To celebrate International Women’s Day, we speak to Sheryl Ewen, Marketing Manager at Evolving Networks. Sheryl talks about her first year at Evolving Networks and how she moved from a FMCG and Fashion marketing background into the Technology sector. She shares her experiences and thoughts on Women in Tech and how it’s never too late to work in the tech industry.
I am responsible for managing and delivering marketing campaigns at Evolving Networks. This involves implementing the marketing strategy across digital and wholesale channels to build brand awareness and engagement, as well as driving sales and profitability.
I particularly enjoy working with partners to plan marketing activities and being the creative lead in our branding and digital marketing activity.
It’s just been over a year now. I joined Evolving Networks after my role was made redundant from my previous employer during my maternity leave.
It was an excellent opportunity for me to progress into Marketing Management on a part time basis and I was excited to be working in the tech industry.
Evolving Networks have been amazing in terms of a support network. They were so accommodating and flexible when I started considering I had been on maternity and been out of the workplace for a year. They were very supportive with settling in and provided extensive training in IT. And they continue to do so.
Being a first-time mum and having the opportunity to head up and manage marketing for Evolving Networks has really driven me and that I can still have a career and support my family. Evolving Networks have been inclusive, strive to support me and Women in Tech and continue to offer the ideal work and life balance.
I come from a FMCG and Fashion marketing background, so I have learned about IT and tech on the job. I feel I am making a difference in driving and communicating the marketing messages on how extraordinary technology really is and how Evolving Networks can transform connectivity for businesses.
I work closely with the CEO in the marketing planning and he is a good mentor to have in terms of learning about various technology and our unique products and services. I am inspired to be part of the tech industry and it will be interesting to see what will happen in the next five years.
Definitely. I am proud to be working with HR on supporting Women in Tech. We have launched many exciting opportunities such as our Apprenticeship Sponsor Scheme to get women into the tech industry. Over the next year, we will be going on a road trip to visit schools and colleges across the UK. We want to inspire women to pursue a career in tech and what better way is to start in the classroom. Our visits will range from Q&A sessions, workshops, mentorship initiatives to future work experience and apprenticeship opportunities. We want to reinforce that it’s an excellent career choice and to create equal opportunities for everyone.
We are also proud about our recent actions to support all our colleagues by offering: -
- Hybrid and flexible working to support the ideal work / life balance.
- Family Friendly Policies such as enhanced maternity and parental leave
- Private Healthcare Scheme
As a young family, my husband and I love to take our 2-year daughter out on little adventures, whether it’s a trip to the local farm, aquarium or simply exploring the countryside. We also have a border collie called Quinn so we enjoy lots and lots of walks.
I love a good coffee so I enjoy meeting friends or family at cafes on a Saturday morning.
I also have an enthusiasm for water sports, particularly paddle boarding and surfing. In my spare time and holidays, I like to go to the coast to get in the sea!
We proudly mark three years of our partnership with Forfusion. Together, we’re transforming business connectivity and consistently delivering innovative solutions that exceed customer expectations. It’s National Work Life Week. It’s run by Working Families, the UK’s national charity for working parents and carers and we are proud to be a part of it. This year’s theme is all about discovering what flexible working means to people from all walks of life and in all sorts of job roles. At Evolving Networks, we support and encourage flexible working. We talk to some of our valuable colleagues to highlight that flexible working is possible no matter what the role involves.
Over the last month we have celebrated 16 years of innovation, and we are now pleased to launch our new Service Status and Issue Tracking platforms. We speak to Nic Elliott, the CTO at Evolving Networks. Nic has been our technical lead from day one. Nic designed and built the first versions of our network hypervisor software - the Intelligent Network Fabric (INF) and our monitoring and management platform eView Live. Nic takes us through our new Service Status and Issue Tracking platforms and how it will support our customers and partners.
We’ve been delivering resilient, multi-link internet connectivity for 16 years and what better way is there to celebrate and reminisce about our connectivity and innovation development is to talk to Nick Johnson, the CEO and owner of Evolving Networks. We take a trip down memory lane, celebrate our achievements in the last year and share our exciting plans for the future.
